Haircut

Tony, Thomas, and I got our haircuts yesterday afternoon from Tony's oldest sister, Annie. This is Thomas' second haircut since his birth. We had him shaved again. Here are some pictures of him suntanning at the pool area in our community.

Thomas after his bath

Here's some pictures of Thomas playing after his bath!

Thomas at the Park

I took Thomas to the park this morning. We spread a cloth on the grass and sat there watching the other children play at the playground. Afterwards, I held him and let him slid down the slide. He loved it! Next, we went to the swings. This is the first time he ever sat on the slides and the swing. He really enjoyed himself today. We had a great time!

Thomas playing in his crib

Here's some pictures I took of Thomas playing in his crib today.

Nothing much has been happening lately. We took Thomas out for a ride last night and he slept on the car. He kept on waking up the entire night!

I was going to take him out to play in the park today but I was too tired. I will probably take him for a walk to the nearby park tomorrow instead.

Hollywood Walk of Fame

Tony and I took Thomas to the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Saturday morning. We saw some famous Hollywood stars' names, such as Jackie Chan, Walt Disney, the Simpsons, Chevy Chase, David Copperfield, Chris Rock, Nicolas Cage, Oliver Stone, Bugs Bunny, Big Bird, John Travolta, Wayne Newton, Celine Dion, Ryan Seacrest, Antonio Banderas, Britney Spears, Kevin Spacey, and Keanu Reeves.

We also saw a lot of people dressed as movie stars posing on Hollywood Blvd, such as Elvis, Superman, Batman, Snow White, and Pirates of the Caribbean. None of them looked real though...Superman needs a little more meat on him, and Elvis was kind of chubby...Not much to do but walk around looking at the stars and hand prints...It wasn't all that I had expected of Hollywood, but after living in California for almost 20 years, I can finally say I've been to the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Thomas was not napping yesterday...

Thomas sometimes wake up in the morning at 5 and plays for a while for about 1-1/2 to 2 hours before falling back asleep, but he did not do this yesterday. He woke up at 5 and played until almost 9. He started getting tired, so I tried to get him to nap, but he refused to. He would fall asleep for a few minutes and then wake up crying. He was like this the whole day. He was so grouchy because of his lack of sleep. I finally took a bath for him at 2, feed him, and got him to sleep for about 40 minutes. He was a little refresh after that, but it did not last long. He did not take anymore naps the entire day and had a hard time falling asleep last night. He did not sleep until 11:00 pm, and that's not until after his tantrum. His sleep was really restless...he kept turning all over the place and keeping me up. Thank goodness he's back to napping today!

Thomas Reaching Out

Thomas has been reaching out for me a lot now. I think he knows now that reaching out tells me that he wants me to hold him. Every morning when he's ready to get up, he'd extend his two arms towards me. And if I pretend and ignore him, he'd be hitting my arms to get my attention. It's so cute!

He's also been flipping left and right. I'd place him on the bed at his corner, and I'd lay down far from him, and he'd always ends up next to me within a few minutes. Also, when he's sleeping, he'd be turning and ends up with his feet in my face!

Thomas' Dermatologist Appointment Today

Thomas had a dermatologist appointment this morning for his eczema. The doctor said that we shouldn't dress Thomas up too warmly or bundle him up too much because this causes his skin to irritate. She said kids with eczema likes to wear cool, loose-fitting clothes and even likes to be naked. She said the reason that Thomas scratches himself so much is that we're dressing him to warm, which is one of the reasons that causes his rashes. Other factors are: the windy weather, dusts and pollens, being close to smoke or someone who smokes, and being close to pets. She recommended we use a humidifier to reduce the dust. Also, anyone who holds him should not be wearing wool material, or wear any perfume or scented lotions. I had given up my perfume ever since Thomas was born, so this is no problem for me!

Even though we don't have any pets, we live in a community where there's a lot of dogs outside...I wonder whether that has any affect on him. I will have to remember to ask the doctor this on our next visit, which is on Feb. 5. The doctor had given Thomas a prescription for a new ointment and she wanted a follow-up appointment. They had taken some pictures of his rashes today so that they can compare on our next appointment.

Seeing Thomas with eczema and scratching himself all the time hurts! I wish I can make it all go away! The doctor said some kids with eczema can carry it through adulthood. I hope this is not the case.

Thomas temperature has gone down

Thomas seems to be feeling lots better now compared to early this morning. His head is still a little warm, but the temperature is under 100 degrees. His voice is still raspy though, and he just threw up around 8 pm. I gave him some Tylenol, and now he's finally sleeping.

Thomas went to the ER

Thomas went to sleep fine at 10 pm last night, but woke up at 12 am feeling a little feverish. I gave him some Tylenol at 2 am, when his fever was around 100 degrees. At 4 am, he had a fever of 103, was vomiting, was coughing a little, and his voice was raspy and he couldn’t cry his normal "loud cry", so the nurse told us to bring him into the emergency. I gave him more Tylenol and went to the ER at Kaiser. His fever was back down to 101 when we arrived to the ER. They had him a repository line for his cough for about 2 hours and also gave him a shot. We finally got home around 10:30 this morning. His fever is gone now. His voice is still raspy though. Hopefully that will go away soon. The nurse said the cough should be gone within 3 days. They also recommended us using a humidifier for him, but since we don't have one, for us to use steamy hot water in a closed bathroom. Also, we are to open up the windows for cool air to circulate, which is supposed to help get rid of his cough.

New Year's Eve

I had won a New Year's Eve celebration cruise in Long Beach on the Hornblower yacht from KOST 103.5 FM. I had entered in their raffle online, and they had contacted me and said I had won. Tony and I went on New Year's Eve. The cruise lasted 3 hours. They provided us with DJ entertainment and a dance stage. There was champagne, hors d'oeuvres, and a full bar. Tony and I munched on bread and cheese, pasta, salad, beef satey, potstickers, strawberries, grapes, cookies, and cheesecake. It was all so delicious! Closed to midnight, everyone got ready for the New Year countdown. It was so fun standing outside on the yacht and counting down with so many people. Afterwards, we stood and watched a display of fireworks from the Queen Mary.

We had left Thomas at Tony's sister's house (Annie). The whole family had gathered there, and Annie and Mindie had helped us babysit Thomas. He had been a handful for them! Tony and I would like to say, "Thank you very much!"

Even though Tony and I had fun without Thomas, we had really missed him on the cruise. We hope to take him on a cruise with us as soon as he is older.
