Thomas Can Sit Up from a Laying Position

Thomas can sit up by himself now from a laying position. He's getting so strong. Sometimes, when I'm changing his diaper, he'd knock my hands out and sit up. He likes to move around a lot...he hates it in his crib because there isn't much room for him to roam around. He can crawl backwards easily, but takes only a few crawls forward. I'd put one of his toys away in front of him, and he'd reach his arms out and inches towards it. It's so cute the way he looks!

Here are some recent pictures of Thomas. Look at the one with him sleeping! He's sucking on his thumb! I had taken him to the park last Friday. I'm still waiting for a good weather on a Sunday so that Tony and I can take Thomas to the park together.

Happy Chinese New Year!

We would like to wish everyone a Happy Chinese New Year! May your new year be filled with happiness, success, and good fortune!

This weekend has been so tiring for us! On Friday morning, Thomas and I went grocery shopping at the Vietnamese store. It was so crowded with everyone shopping for the new year. That night, Tony, Thomas, and I went to celebrate our late Valentine's Day dinner at Todai at the Westminster Mall. It was a very good meal.

On Saturday morning, we cleaned the house to start out with a clean house on the morning of New Year's. Tony wanted to put his new computer desk up, so I helped him. It was so heavy! It took us almost 5 hours to finally set up the desk. Meanwhile, Thomas had to sit and play by himself. You can tell from the picture that he started getting bored and wanted me to hold him! It was a really tiring job putting together that desk, and my back and arms still ache from it today!

Afterwards, we stopped at my parent's house for a while to hand out good luck money in red envelopes to my parents, nephews, and nieces. Then we went to my grandmother's house and handed her a red envelope too. Next, we stopped by Tony's parents house. His side of the family doesn't hand out red envelopes until the next day, so we didn't hand out any there yet.

On Sunday, it was New Year's Day. Tony spent the whole day plugging in all his cables and setting up his computers while I spent the day recuperating from my aches. We wanted to go to the New Year's festival, but we didn't want to push Thomas' stroller around in the dirt. We thought it would be too dirty. This is the first year that we didn't go to the festival. We also usually go to the temple in Los Angeles on New Year's eve, but we didn't go this year either. There's firecrackers and the dragon dance at midnight, but we figured it would be too noisy for Thomas.

I told Tony this morning that it doesn't feel like New Year's yet because we stayed home the whole day yesterday and didn't do what we normally did the past years. So this noon, Tony, Thomas, and I went to Phuoc Loc Tho, the Asian Mall. There was a lot of people outside nearby the mall gambling! It was so crowded. We stayed there a while watching them gamble. It was fun.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Last night, Thomas woke me up for 2-1/2 hours in the early morning. I was so tired this morning, but it was such a nice day that I decided to take him out to the park. I put him in his stroller and walked there. It takes me only about 10 minutes to walk to the small park near our house. There were several kids playing in the sandbox. One of the kids was on the baby swing, so I took him to the playground structure, and slided down the slide with him. He was all laughing!

There was this little girl, about 2-3 years old, playing nearby. A little boy around her age just came to the playground, and ran up to her, giving her a plush rose! He said, "Happy Valentine's" to her, and they gave each other a big hug. It turns out that they've been boyfriend and girlfriend for about a year. It was so cute!

I sat next to this woman and we introduced ourselves to each other. Her name was Amber. She was a nanny for 2 of the kids there, one of them 4 months old (Madeline), and the other was 2-1/2 years old (Luke). Finally, the baby swing was available, so I took Thomas there. He was laughing so much! It was adorable! He was not so adorable on our way home though. He was crying so loud all the way home!

At home, we baked a Valentine's cake for daddy Tony. I also made some bun rieu for dinner. This is a Vietnamese noddle soup with tomatoes and crab and egg paste. Now, we're just waiting for Thomas' daddy to arrive home to enjoy Valentine's day with us!

Thomas Back to Not Sleeping Again.

Thomas has not been sleeping soundly again ever since those 2 other days that he had slept through the night. Last night, he woke up around 2:30 and stayed awake for 2 hours! Also, he kept tossing and turning.

Lately, he's been trying to sit up from a laying position all by himself. He can almost do it. He hasn't actually crawled forward yet, but he can move around to reach the things he wants by moving his body around and pushing himself back.

Thomas Holding His Own Bottle

Here's Thomas holding his own bottle. He keeps on taking it out of his mouth, and misses his mouth when he tries to put it back in, making the milk drop on his face! He's opening his mouth wide to put the bottle in!

He Did It Again!!!

Thomas did it again! He slept at 11 pm last night, and didn't wake up until 8 am this morning for his feeding. I am so proud of him! :)

Thomas finally sleeps through the whole night for the first time!

Thomas slept through the night for the first time last night! I was so happy he finally did it! He drank his milk at 8:00 last night, and then went to sleep at 8:30. He woke up at 9 pm and went right back to sleep. He was a little restless during the night, tossing and turning, and cried out a little, but he did not wake up until 5 am! This was the first time he slept this much! The two previous nights, we had a hard time putting him to sleep. Usually, he wakes up every 2-3 hours and cries out for his milk. Sometimes he would go right back to sleep, and sometimes, he'd lay awake for a while before going back to sleep. I hope he will keep on sleeping throughout the night like this!

Thomas and his Sippy Cup

Here's Thomas trying to drink from his sippy cup by himself. He can't do it, so he licks the top instead!

Super Bowl Sunday

Super Bowl Sunday was a very sunny day in California, but not a good weather for the football players. They had to play in the pouring rain! Tony, Thomas, and I went to our friend's house to watch the game. It was fun getting together in a huge group and shouting for our favorite teams to win!
